Multiple Perspectives
2023
When you go on a ski trip with your family, but don’t ski, there is a lot of time to draw! Looking out at a lovely view from a window in Montana, I made a game of seeing how many different sketches I could make from the same window. For each sketch, I chose something to focus on and other things to ignore. Sometimes I looked more left, other times, more to the right. Picking and choosing this way made me think about how people can look at the same thing and often see it very differently. We choose certain facts to focus on and others to ignore. We all bring our own experiences and preferences with us when looking at things. Viewers of these paintings will do the same, altering these perspectives even more!
