The Relationship Between Order and Chaos
2024
Our environment,
the amount of light,
the amount of clutter,
the presence of nature,
the presence of color…
it all plays a role in how we function.
In my recent work, the relationship between order and chaos emerges through a process of organizing and dividing up space with both drawn and painted lines, carefully applying color, and repeating the process to create layers.
The arrangement into comfortable, though not perfect, rows and columns alludes to a sense of security.
The direction and curve of each line creates tension and heaviness affecting the weight of the overall image.
Viewers are invited to contemplate their own place of comfort in the spectrum between chaos and order.
