Shenandoah Valley

2025

I have lived among the Blue Ridge Mountains my whole life, first in Roanoke,VA and now in Harrisonburg, VA. It is such a beautiful place. These soft, worn blue mountains make a lovely backdrop everywhere you look. For these pieces, I sketched local scenes of the Shenandoah Valley and then slowly added layers of paint. These farms show landscapes full of diverse colors, some parts hiding until you see them in a certain light or from a certain angle. The colors and spaces reflect the quiet, calmness and bold strength of the land and people of the Shenandoah Valley.
